A skill upgradation training programme for thirty beneficiaries on Agarbati making & Packaging was inaugurated on 14 June 2010 at Maneswar Branch Office of Maneswar block of Sambalpur District. Mr. Satya Ranjan Pramanik Programme Manager BISWA, Mr. Kulamani Dash Programme Manager BISWA, Mr. Bisudhananda Mishra, Assistant Programme Manager, Mr. Gurudatta Purohit Deputy programme Manager, Ms. Arunima Mishra Deputy programme Manager, were present in this inaugural session. The Training Programme was organized by Mr. Manoj Kumar Das Assistance District Coordinator of Maneswar Block. He introduced the Participants with the Members Present over there and also made an orientation of all the participants with the staffs present in the function. Mr. Bisudhananda Mishra briefly explained the objectives of the training programme along with the role of NABARD. He mentioned how NABARD is instrumental to build the skill and capacities of women SHGs to promote enterprises through nurturing the SHGs and supporting various income generation training program so that the women SHGs members can strengthen their socio economic status. He emphasized on the trade and empowerment of women in national as well as in Orissa context. He motivated the participants to pay proper attention to this training programme to make it successful. He then welcomed Mr. Satya Ranjan Pramanik Programme Manager BISWA to speak something regarding the training programme. Mr. Satya Ranjan Pramanik, Programme Manager BISWA told how the training programmes can be instrumental to change their life and address the social issues at their local level. He also mentioned the value chain system related to the training programme and how BISWA can support them to enhance their livelihood opportunities. He mentioned BISWA’s approach and partnership with various corporate houses especially ITC. And through ITC and Laxmipriya pvt marketing wing, the SHGs can work in collaboration with ITC for a sustainable manner for the production of Agarbatti and it’s packaging he said. Speaking on the marketing part, he mentioned that Laxmipriya Private Limited provide full support for the marketing. He would also pointed out that this approach had multiple benefits like income generation, group cohesiveness and self sustainability. He also explained how people could prepare standard products so that they could be well recognized in the local as well as in national market for thire products and earn money to lead a life with dignity. Mr. Gurudatta Purohit told the master trainer Mr. Kabimanyu Khetriya to interact with the participants. He explained them regarding the day to day schedule of the training programme and showed them the raw materials. After the inaugural function was over, he started the practical session immediately as per the interest shown by the participants. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Gurudatta Purohit.
