Podapada is a village under Aadasa Gram Panchayat of Reamal block in Deogarh district. The village is surrounded by hills and mountains. There is a small temple situated in middle of the village. A beautiful pond exists besides the temple. The total number of households of this village is about 35. Most of the villagers come from lower middleclass family. The villagers depend on agriculture as their main sources of income generation. At that time, one day Mr. Tapas Kumar Dash, former Community Organizer of BISWA reached there. He had arranged a meeting with some prominent persons of the village to discuss with them on the Vision, Mission & Goal of BISWA. On 10th November, 2007, an SHG was formed in that village with inducting 15 members that is named as 'BISWA SHG Maa Subhadra'. Ms. Nirupama Sahu and Mrs. Gitanjali Sahu both got selected as president and secretary of the group. All the members agreed to save Rs.30/- per member per month and deposit that amount in a saving bank account in the Reamal branch of Union Bank.  It was the initiation of a regular thrift habit without any delay and continued by the SHG members. As a result of it the total saving of the SHG is Rs.14,703/- till now. This SHG is not limited within saving and meetings as its activities. It participates in all types of social activity in the leadership of its president and secretary. The SHG had taken an important role in forming a "Vana Sanrakshana Samiti" in the village. It is one of the achievements of that group that its members persuaded the villagers to understand the importance of protection of forest and environment. Such an activity was noticed by Srimati Suprava Mishra, a former Child Development Programme Officer (CDPO) of Reamal Block. She felicitated the SHG by awarding Rs.5000/- as a government aided fund. According to the president, the future plan of the SHG is to raise voice against illicit liquor business in that area with maintaining total sanitation and to eradicate illiteracy among the villagers.
