BISWA felicitated with "Environmentalist of the Year Award" 2011 PDF Print E-mail

environmentalist-of-the-year-award-2011Bhubaneswar, Jun 5: Eminent green activisit Prafulla Kumar Dhal was on Sunday felicitated with  the prestigious “Environmentalist of the Year Award,” marking the 39th World Environment Day. Former chairman of State Pollution Control Board Dr L.N. Patnaik conferred the award here at a special function organised by the Odisha Environmental Society and Indian Science Congress Association.

A post-graduate from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, - Mr Dhal, is presently working as Director, Bharat Integrated Social Welfare Agency (BISWA),- was given away a citation, certificate and cash prize of Rs 5,000.

A five-member jury headed by former Sambalpur vice chancellor and former State Pollution Control Board chairperson Professor M.C. Dash chose Mr Dhal from among several nominees taking into account his contribution to protect and conserve various water sources and their proper management. Mr Dhal has been working for protection of various water bodies and supply of safe drinking water to all sections of people both in urban and rural parts across the country.

 

Replying to his felicitation, Mr Dhal said, “The Award will encourage and inspire me to continue my green efforts with renewed spirts.”
