The meeting of BISWA Policy Advisory Board took place at CMPL Office on 7th January. At the outset Mr. K.C.Malick welcomed the honourable members of the Board and other invited guests present in this meeting. He requested Dr. Bhagban Prakash, Chairman of BISWA Advisory Board to preside over the meeting. Dr. Prakash agreed for the same & placed the minutes of the last meeting and action taken on the resolutions before the members for discussion. It was approved for adoption unanimously after due discussion. Mr. Pravakar Rout suggested that BISWA should be a member of CII and ECCI and undertake the CSR activities, which is defined in Odisha R & R policy. The members discussed the poverty conditions of Orissa and proposed that BISWA should take steps to make 100 villages hunger free during the year 2010-11. Mr Bibhuprasad Mohanty was given the responsibility to prepare a concept note in this regard, which will be circulated among the members for their comments. This may facilitate BISWA to initiate actions in those villages. The farmers’ suicide in the state was discussed in details. The members suggested that BISWA should take necessary initiatives for improvement of agriculture and farmers in the state. Mr. K.C.Malick proposed that BISWA will take steps for establishment of an Agriculture Development Corporation during 2010-11 in the state for improvement of agriculture. The members suggested that BISWA should take initiatives to establish one insurance company in the state. Mr. Malick informed the house that BISWA is in the process to start an insurance company. Mr Malick concluded the meeting with proposing vote of thanks. |
