Healthy humans only may be able to build a healthy India. We must inculcate habits to bring forth a healthy and prosperous life that would help us create healthy village alongwith a healthy Odisha. This is the ultimate mission of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). And each individual, group and cluster has a role in it. This was the gist of peoples’ opinion during a programme on rural health. A grand rally was organised in the Gram Panchayat of Ghenupali in Maneswar block of Sambalpur district on 29th December 2009 to propagate the ultimate motto of the Mission. It was jointly organised by BISWA and Christian Medical Association of India (CMAI). Villagers, self help group members & students of Badasahi High School participated in the rally with their high spirit. An awareness meeting was conducted on this occasion in the chairmanship of Sri Santosh Kumar Sahu, Head Master of that high school. Among others ‘Pala’ singer Sri Gethal Bhoi, Ex-teacher & social worker Sri Bhimsen Badi, SHG leader Ms Nirupama Menduli, Journalist Uma Prasad Panigrahi alongwith Sri Bhawani Shankar Mishra, Dr Rajaram Sarangi, Ms Anuradha Gupta, Sri Ashish Panda on behalf of BISWA participated in it. They spoke in detail about Janani Suraksha Yojana, Janani Express, Public Hearings, Village Welfare Committee, use of Health Walls, Immunisation, Malaria Eradication, Combat against AIDS, institutional delivery, daily diet habits & sanitation issues. Similarly a ‘Question & Answer’ programme was organised earlier on 22nd December 2009 at Padiabahal weekly market place to bring public awareness on the motto of the Mission. Local people present in the market came forward to participate in the programme in a big way. Prize materials related to public health were awarded to successful participants, which attracted large scale appreciations there.
